  • Union Presbyterian Church 200 E Main St Endicott, NY, 13760 United States (map)

Who among us hasn’t had a restless night? The psalmist writes as one who knows, and who describes the longing for God as acutely and piercingly as anyone in scripture.

Join us throughout Lent for our Wednesday Evening Prayer series, Bedtime Stories. Worship with us in our sanctuary, or right here via live-stream. You are invited to join us in a season brimming with God’s extravagant love and grace!

Call to Worship Doug Moore

Stay with us, Lord, for it is evening,

and the day is almost over.

Sing us one of the old songs, Lord,

the songs of the ages, the songs of your people.

Teach us to do your will,

for you are our God.

My Shepherd will supply my need;
Jehovah is His Name:
In pastures fresh He makes me feed,
Beside the living stream.
He brings my wandering spirit back
When I forsake His ways,
And leads me, for His mercy’s sake,
In paths of truth and grace.

When I walk through the shades of death
Thy presence is my stay;
One word of Your supporting breath
Drives all my fears away.
Your hand, in sight of all my foes,
Does still my table spread;
My cup with blessings overflows,
Your oil anoints my head.

The sure provisions of my God
Attend me all my days;
O may Your house be my abode,
And all my work be praise.
There would I find a settled rest,
While others go and come;
No more a stranger, or a guest,
But like a child at home.

Scripture Psalm 63:1-8  Doug Moore

A reading from the Book of Psalms, Psalm 63, beginning at verse 1.

O God, you are my God, eagerly I seek you;

   my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you,

   as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Therefore I have gazed upon you in your holy place,

   that I might behold your power and your glory.

For your steadfast love is better than life itself,

   and my lips shall give you praise.

So will I bless you as long as I live,

   and lift up my hands in your name.

My spirit is content, as with the richest of foods,

   and my mouth praises you with joyful lips

when I remember you upon my bed,

   and meditate on you in the night watches.

For you have been my helper,

   and under the shadow of your wings I will rejoice.

My whole being clings to you;

   your right hand holds me fast.

Response Holy Wisdom, Holy Word:

Thanks be to God!

The Lord’s Prayer (Unison

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,

Whose trust, ever childlike, no cares could destroy,

Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,

Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,

Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe,

Be there at our labors, and give us, we pray,

Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.

Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,

Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace,

Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,

Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.

Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,

Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,

Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,

Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.

BlessingRev. Pat Raube

Bless the Lord.

God’s name be praised!

May God bless us in our sleep with rest,

in our dreams with vision,

in our waking with a calm mind,

and in our souls with the friendship of the Holy Spirit,

this night and every night.

Amen!
