Each year followers of Jesus receive ashes as a sign of our human frailty, and our understanding that we are finite, limited. We take on Lenten practices designed to help us slow down and locate ourselves in God’s Big Story of salvation, whose heart is at the cross.
Join us for an online Ash Wednesday celebration, and bring your ashes (or ashes substitute!). You are invited to join us in this Lenten journey!

O love, how deep, how broad, how high,
How passing thought and fantasy,
That God, the Son of God, should take
Our mortal form for mortals’ sake.
For us baptized, for us He bore
His holy fast and hungered sore;
For us temptations sharp He knew,
For us the tempter overthrew.
For us to evil power betrayed,
Scourged, mocked, in purple robe arrayed,
He bore the shameful cross and death,
For us gave up His dying breath.
O love, how deep, how broad, how high,
How passing thought and fantasy,
That God, the Son of God, should take
Our mortal form for mortals’ sake.

“What Wondrous Love Is This”
(Public Domain)
Cantor: Barbara Fuller
Piano: Heather Ingraham
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul!
When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down, sinking down;
When I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul!
To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing,
To God and to the Lamb I will sing!
To God and to the Lamb, who is the great “I AM,”
While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing,
While millions join the theme, I will sing!
