Christmas 1: Now I've Seen It All

  • Union Presbyterian Church 200 E Main St Endicott, NY, 13760 United States (map)

Hymn

“Once in Royal David’s City”

(Public Domain)

Performed by Chris Bartlette, Colin DeLap, Heather Ingraham, Patricia Raube

Once in royal David’s city stood a lowly cattle shed,

Where a mother laid her baby in a manger for his bed:

Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her little child.

He came down to earth from heaven who is God and Lord of all,

And his shelter was a stable, and his cradle was a stall:

With the poor and meek and lowly lived on earth, our Savior holy.

Jesus is our childhood’s pattern, day by day like us he grew;

He was little, weak, and helpless, tears and smiles like us he knew:

And he feels for all our sadness, and he shares in all our gladness.

And our eyes at last shall see him, through his own redeeming love;

For that child, so dear and gentle, is our Lord in heaven above:

And he leads his children on to the place where he has gone.

Prayer Response

“Comfort, Comfort Now My People” (v. 3)

(Public Domain)

Performed by Chris Bartlette, Heather Ingraham.

Straight shall be what long was crooked,

And the rougher places plain!

Let your hearts be true and humble,

As befits God’s holy reign!

For the glory of the Lord

Now on earth is shed abroad,

And all flesh shall see the token

That God’s Word is never broken.

Hymn #198 R

“Good Christian Friends Rejoice”

(Public Domain)

Performed by Chris Bartlette, Colin DeLap, Heather Ingraham, Patricia Raube.

Good Christian friends, rejoice with heart and soul and voice;

Give ye heed to what we say: Jesus Christ is born today;

Ox and ass before him bow, and he is in the manger now.

Christ is born today! Christ is born today!

Good Christian friends, rejoice with heart and soul and voice;

Now ye hear of endless bliss; Jesus Christ was born for this;

He has opened heaven’s door, and we are blest forevermore.

Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this!

Good Christian friends, rejoice with heart and soul and voice;

Now ye need not fear the grave; Jesus Christ was born to save;

Calls you one and calls you all to gain his everlasting hall.

Christ was born to save! Christ was born to save!
