In the Presbyterian Church (USA), the following words are used as we begin the season of Lent:

I invite you, therefore, in the name of Christ,
to observe a holy Lent"
by self-examination and penitence,
by prayer and fasting,
by works of love,
and by reading and meditating on the Word of God.

Join us on Ash Wednesday, for a light supper in our Fellowship Hall (5:30), followed by a worship service in the Sanctuary. You may receive ashes at that time, as a sign of your participation in the journey of Jesus throughout this season.
