On this day we will hear once again the story of Pentecost: our celebration of the rushing forth of the Holy Spirit that brought about the birth of the church. We will have an opportunity to ponder the time of in-Spired communication, joyful sharing, and heartfelt worship that followed. We will also have an opportunity to commit ourselves once again to the Spirit’s guidance for our lives—knowing that it can come as both joy and wake-up call, both gift and challenge, both gentle inspiration and startling push.
