In conjunction with the Music Director, the organist plans, prepares, and plays music appropriate to the context of the weekly worship service, using the pipe organ, grand piano, or electric piano. This includes accompanying the choir and/or soloists, preludes, introits, anthems, offertories, hymns, and postludes. In addition to the regularly scheduled worship services on Sunday mornings, the organist is also responsible for music/accompaniment on special music programs and their rehearsals, such as seasonal worship (Lent/Advent), and cantata performances. On occasion, the organist will be called upon to play for a wedding ceremony or memorial service taking place at UPC.
